The wars we fought in these disparate and forgotten lands may have been fake but they made a huge difference when we finally went down range. The practice, however mundane, of being out and doing the job in a setting different than just being out in the woods on the base and doing the jobs we were trained to do was a huge boost in competency regardless of how little we may have felt we learned in the end.
